What Inspires Me
These are the techniques I use to ensure every piece is unique. Every vantage point shows the differences within each piece, inviting the user to investigate further and to touch and hold . Some pieces are rather ridiculous, while others verge on the serious side.
Warren Hingle once told me that if you get more than 1/3 of the pots out of the kiln that were perfect you were working at 100%
Ceramic materials and processes challenge and engage me. I enjoy working with my hands, experimenting, and having fun with endless possibilities. When I open the kiln, the results always surprise me. That is how ceramics simultaneously excites me and teaches me about life, I learn to fail, understand nature, accept things as they are, and sometimes let it go. Clay work offers the chance to be by myself in silence and to slow down. When I work alone, I am challenged and inspired and explore the forms that are created with my hands transforming the soft fluid clay from imagination to reality.
I am inspired by life experiences and the faith that my work will only improve in spirit and design.
